Let's Celebrate a MINORSTONE today!
We all know what a MILEstone is. It is an event of note - like a wedding, or a graduation. Or it’s a big life-changing purchase - like buying your first car - or buying a home. And for these occasions we are allowed to celebrate! We have people over, we pop some champagne - we have special foods.
But what if you are delaying getting married because you are pursuing your career for a few years in a really significant way? What if you have been trying like crazy to save enough for a house and you have realized that it’s not looking like that is going to happen with the way the economy is, or interest rates are…etc., etc. So, do you just not get to celebrate anymore? That’s the dilemma many people have faced as the structure of society has started to shift in some major ways.
So - BRING ON THE MINORSTONE celebrations! How about celebrating just paying off your USED car?! How about celebrating your newest certificate of knowledge you gained by doing an online course?! How about just getting to Friday and doing a great job at work this week?! All of these are new reasons to celebrate as people decide that they don’t want to wait - or can’t wait - for these really big moments to occur.
I’ve noticed this acceptance and “both hands in the air” moments by brands as they are marketing lately and it is a joyous thing to see. I took a number of pictures from a television ad for Johsonville Brats this week. I had to do it because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing! This ad was so bright and colorful - it was joyful all around - it had people at a back yard bbq having fun - they were neighbors and family and friends - it was just a crazy, lovely amazing fun party and I wanted to be a part of it right away. Everyone was wearing bright colors and patterns and there was a disco ball and a cut out of a bear in the background - people were hoola-hooping and limbo-ing (I think?) …but mostly they were celebrating…SOMETHING - and smiling. And I loved it. I remembered it. It was a small, happy moment in my morning - a GLIMMER - and I appreciated Johnsville for making the effort to gift it to me. They showed me it’s OK to have a MINORSTONE moment to just celebrate WHATEVER I want - and I think I will do it TONIGHT.
